Biogas Purification
Biogas Purification
India produces large quantities of organic waste ( 0.17-0.7 kg/capita/day). Anaerobic digestion of the organic waste produces raw biogas containing majorly CH 4 and CO 2.
The Acid gases (CO 2 , H 2 S) need to be removed from raw biogas. In India, this is done by conventional technologies.
Membrane technology though has advantages over conventional ones,
- Physical method of separation
- No need of high quantity of water for scrubbing
- No need of chemicals/adsorbents; No frequent replacement cost
- Low Capex and Opex
- Compressed biomethane as outlet, can be directly used for refilling and distribution
